And I think those artists are still really important to me in terms of how I approach pop music. W: My parents have always been big music fans and showed me so many great artists growing up - the new wave stuff definitely stuck with me the most The Cure, Blondie, New Order, etc. What were your musical influences growing up, and how do you think they’ve affected the music you listen to / make today? ‘‘To me, a remix has always felt like a fantastic way to experience a song you already love for the first time again - like this angular musical conversation between the person who created the original track and the person creating the remix…’’ We’d always been quite experimental in our approach to making music, so the idea of doing something with absolute creative freedom and only the two of us as the constant was really appealing. W: We’ve been in bands together almost the entire time we’ve known each other, but it wasn’t until we lived in Southampton where we started making music as Sun Spot. I think that’s a big part of why we asked him to join the band aha! We hit it off pretty much immediately, mostly banging on about music, and we haven’t really stopped since.Īnd when did you decide to start writing music together?

G: If I remember correctly, we were particularly excited to meet Will, as my friend had seen him around college wearing American flag skinny jeans and he was apparently always in the toilet doing his hair. I have no clue what I’m doing most of the time and George has got really good at turning my ideas into something close to usable, so we’re a good team I reckon! They were in an indie band with George and asked me to come & play bass - we’ve kind of just been very co-dependent ever since. W: So we met when we were both at college through a mutual friend. So we know that you two have been making music together for a long time… But how did you two first meet?

W: Hi! Thanks for having us! So we’ve been making pop music together in our living room for nearly 3 years now as ‘Sun Spot.’ We recently released our double single, ‘Johari Window/Lovesong’ with Rosecoloured Records, and we’re now gearing up to share this remix EP we made with a bunch of our stupidly talented mates! Hey guys! For those who aren’t familiar with Sun Spot, please introduce yourself.
